Lydia & Jonathan’s Summer Wedding at Walled Garden Baumber | Lincolnshire Wedding Photographer
There’s something truly magical about Walled Garden Baumber weddings in the summer, and Lydia and Jonathan’s celebration was the perfect example of romance unfolding in this beautiful Lincolnshire setting.
I’ve photographed many weddings at Walled Garden Baumber, so I was very much looking forward to returning for Lydia and Jonathan’s day. Each Walled Garden Baumber wedding is unique, but there’s a familiarity that comes with knowing the space well – understanding how the light falls at different times of day, where the best photo opportunities are, and how to make the most of those gorgeous walled gardens. That familiarity meant I could focus entirely on capturing Lydia and Jonathan’s story as it unfolded.
From the moment I arrived, I knew this was going to be a special day. The summer light filtered through the trees, casting a golden glow over the gardens, and there was an undeniable sense of love in the air that would only grow stronger as the day progressed.
A Day Filled with Love at Walled Garden Baumber
What struck me most about Lydia and Jonathan’s Walled Garden Baumber wedding was the overwhelming sense of love that permeated every moment. You could see it in the way they looked at each other during the ceremony, in the tears of joy from their families, and in the warm embraces shared throughout the day. This wasn’t just a wedding – it was a celebration of a love story that had brought together two families and countless friends.
The romantic atmosphere was enhanced by the venue itself. Walled Garden Baumber, with its charming brick walls, manicured gardens, and intimate spaces, provided the perfect backdrop for such a heartfelt celebration. Every corner of this Lincolnshire venue seemed designed for romance, from the ceremony space to the reception area where guests gathered to toast the happy couple.
Drinks, Games, and Laughter
After guests arrived at The Walled Garden in Baumber, the celebrations kicked off with drinks and garden games on the lawn. There’s something about garden games at a wedding that brings out people’s competitive sides while keeping things wonderfully relaxed! Watching guests in their wedding finery tackle giant jenga, croquet, or whatever games Lydia and Jonathan had chosen always makes for fantastic photos. The combination of smart outfits, drinks in hand, sunshine, and a bit of friendly competition creates those natural, candid moments that really capture the joy of the day. These are the times when people forget about the camera and just enjoy themselves, which is exactly when the best photographs happen.
Speeches
If there’s one thing that will stay with me from Lydia and Jonathan’s wedding, it’s the speeches. Each one was beautifully crafted, filled with personal stories, gentle humor, and touching moments that had guests reaching for tissues. The love and respect that family and friends had for this couple shone through in every word spoken. These weren’t just standard wedding speeches – they were heartfelt tributes that painted a picture of two people truly meant for each other.
The detail and thought that went into each speech reflected the care and attention that Lydia and Jonathan had put into their entire day. It was clear that every element had been considered, from the smallest decorative touches to the most meaningful moments shared with their loved ones.
A Summer’s Day to Remember (With a Football Twist!)
Summer weddings at Walled Garden Baumber have a charm all their own, and Lydia and Jonathan’s day was blessed with beautiful weather that allowed them and their guests to make the most of the venue’s outdoor spaces. The gardens were in full bloom, providing a naturally stunning setting for photographs and a romantic atmosphere that continued from ceremony through to the evening celebrations.
Now, here’s something that made this wedding truly memorable – it coincided with an England Euros championship match! While romance was definitely in the air, there was also a healthy dose of football fever. I found myself in the rather unique position of having most of the groomsmen and friends huddled around my laptop, trying to catch the match between photography moments. It’s not every day your camera equipment takes second place to becoming an impromptu sports broadcasting station! But that’s the beauty of weddings – the unexpected moments that make each one special. Lydia and Jonathan took it all in stride, proving that the best weddings are the ones where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves, whether that’s on the dance floor or nervously watching England play.
The Evening Celebrations
When it came time for the evening entertainment, Lydia and Jonathan chose a ceilidh – and what a brilliant choice it was! There’s something wonderfully infectious about ceilidh dancing, and their guests absolutely threw themselves into it. No wallflowers here – everyone got properly stuck in, from the youngest guests to the oldest. The energy was incredible, with laughter echoing around Walled Garden Baumber as people spun, stepped, and occasionally stumbled their way through the dances.
Photographing a ceilidh is always a joy because the happiness is so genuine and unguarded. People are too busy concentrating on their footwork (or laughing at their lack of it) to worry about the camera, which makes for the most authentic, joyful images. The combination of traditional music, enthusiastic dancing, and the warm summer evening created an atmosphere of pure celebration.
