Lauren and Matt got married at the exquisite Priory Hotel, my particular favourite Louth wedding venue.  Lauren and Matt are one of the nicest, chilled couples you could ever have the pleasure of meeting and so I was very glad that they chose me as their wedding photographer for their Priory Hotel wedding in Louth.

The reason I love the Priory Hotel in Louth so much is that not only is it an elegant 19th century hotel with many quirky room and original features, it also boast some of the best grounds in the county.  For a wedding venue so close to Louth town centre, it’s amazing how much room it has.    Paul the chef puts his heart and soul into every wedding he does and the food is exquisite!  It really was the perfect venue for Lauren and Matt’s relaxed wedding.

Anyway, more about their day…  I met up with the girls at a local hairdressers to capture some of the bridal prep there, before going back to Lauren’s house for the final preparations.  It was then time to head off to the hotel for the main event, where I caught up with Matt and his best man and the already arriving guests.

The ceremony room is compact yet quaint and unique.  Their ceremony was great with many tears from mum and many laughs from the ever-so happy couple, allowing me to capture some timeless wedding photos. Once the ceremony was over, everyone made their way outside onto the terrace overlooking the stunning grounds.  Lauren and Matt had planned this wedding to perfection and their “relaxed and fun wedding” approach certainly showed with the decorations and layout.  For the first time for me, I got to photograph a wedding there completely outside.  They had beautifully decorated tables and chairs surrounding a band marquee, and there was also a marquee full of barbecue food!  Lovely stuff!

Everyone was having such fun and they partied well into the night – I was very privileged to be a part of their special day!  Congratulations Lauren and Matt!

I started by meeting up with the boys in their fantastic lodge for a few quick shots of them all together.

After that, I caught up with Kim and the girls in the bridal suite of the hotel for some bridal prep photos.  They were all in great spirits and were clearly excited about the day ahead.

Suddenly the ceremony was upon us and it was lovely!  Luckily the weather played ball for the happy couple, and they got to have their wedding outside in the gazebo, and as you can see from the photos below, it was a dry sunny day.

Now Kim and Malcolm had kept warning me that they “hated being in front of a camera” and “didn’t feel comfortable” but they were both absolutely fantastic for the day and both were very accommodating to my requests as I walked them around the grounds of the hotel and were a great couple to work with.

For the meal they had afternoon tea, which was nice and different from the norm.  The speeches were short and sweet with a very touching one from Malcolm about his new wife – who he clearly loves very much.

I stayed and enjoyed my time there until after the first dance, and left a busy dance floor – which is always a good sign for a a cracking wedding.

Congratulations to you both you make a fantastic couple and I wish you all the best for the future.

Naturally, when Aimie and Les asked me to be their wedding photographer I jumped at the chance and said it would be my absolute pleasure.  (I think I’d long since accepted the fact that I’ll never go to a wedding again as just a guest!  And besides, I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else shooting it – it wouldn’t have seemed right.)

I met up with Aimie in their lovely house in Louth and was greeted by a house full of excited females, including Les’s niece and Aimie’s daughter who were both bridesmaids on the day.

Once I’d finished at the house, it was a short drive to the church in Donington-On-Bain, a little village outside Louth which was to be the setting of their Lincolnshire wedding.  I saw Les and thought to myself “you handsome devil you” and could just tell he was SO happy to be there and excited to be finally saying “I do” to Aimie.

Aimie turned up to the church in her dad’s vintage car with a huge smile on her face and, to be honest, I don’t think she stopped smiling all day long and hearing her say things like “it’s a dream come true” was an absolute delight.

Now there were no actual photos of the ceremony due to the wishes of the vicar, but, she very kindly let me pose them again for a couple of shots after the ceremony had finished which you can see below.  The guests (including me!) all met up on the church grounds where our good friends had set up a small gazebo tent and tea/coffee, cupcakes beer and Pimms (!) had all been provided – it was quite different and very lovely.

Once the group shots were out of the way, I took the happy couple for some intimate portraits around the church grounds and the village.  This is something I ensure I get the time to do with each and every one of my couples.  They were relaxed and very easy to work with – perhaps knowing me well helped.

We all reconvened back in Louth in The Town and Country Club which they had decided would be their Louth wedding venue.  It was beautifully decorated by Aimie and her friends.  There we had some amazing speeches from Aimie’s friend and a very touching one from Aimie’s dad, who you could just tell was so very proud of his daughter.  Also a very emotional one from Les – which I think surprised everyone, and lots of laughs from his best man and brother, who just did THE BEST Les impersonation ever!

After we ate, they cut the beautiful cake made by Les’s very talented sister and then we all partied and danced the night away.  It was an absolutely fantastic day full of happiness, so much happiness and it was a complete pleasure to be a part of, both as the official photographer and a guest.

St Mary’s Catholic Church is literally a one minute walk from my house and I have never before set foot in the place so I was very much looking forward to shooting Philippa and Martin’s wedding there.  My day started with the very short walk from my house to catch up with Martin and his best man for a few quick photos before he disappeared inside as I awaited the arrival of Philly.  She arrived in a old vintage convertible car – it was certainly the weather for it, with a huge smile on her face and pretty much didn’t stop smiling all day long.  She was obviously very excited about the forthcoming proceedings!

The lovely ceremony passed by without a hitch with a couple of great readings, a few jokes from the vicar, lots of smiling and also a few tears along the way.

I think one of the highlights of the day for the guest happened whilst they were all outside watching the happy couple get into their wedding car to take them to their wedding reception at Kenwick Park.  A young over-confident boy racer with no top on pulled up at the lights and managed to stall his car in front of ALL the guests.  It was a perfectly executed piece of karma!

It was then the short drive up to the Kenwick Park wedding venue to get on with the celebrations.  I took some group shots in the grounds of the venue and then a few intimate portraits of the bride and groom.   I stayed for the speeches which included one of the best tributes to a father I’ve ever heard – it was indeed very touching.  It was a shorter day for me today so I finished after the speeches.

Yet again it was another fantastic Kenwick Park wedding!  Well done you guys and all the best for the future.

I started the day as I nearly always do with the bridal preparations where I met up with Becky, her mum and the two stunning bridesmaids.  I also learnt that hairspray makes a very effective wasp killer!   The girls were all relaxed and having lots of laughs and I knew we were in for a nice laid back and intimate wedding.

Once I knew Will had arrived downstairs, I went to catch up with him and the cheeky banter started already – he just can’t help himself ;).  It’s all fun though!

Becky looked beautiful in her dress and lit up the small yet intimate ceremony room with a huge beaming smile.  The ceremony was lovely – full of laughter and tears and a few jokes too.

The weather played ball and I was able to get some lovely photos of the happy couple around the lake and the grounds. I stayed until the end of the speeches.  A lovely day.

The day started out nicely relaxed and quiet, at the bride to be’s house for the morning preparations, where I was greeted by Pippa, her three bridesmaids, and her step-mum.

After I’d finished at the house, it was straight onto the Priory Hotel to catch up with Oli and his best man (in this case a woman) and usher.   I could tell Oli was a little nervous as he kept pacing around, but was more than obliging when I asked him to pose for a couple or shots.

The ceremony was a nice intimate affair with a few tears from an obviously very happy bride, and once complete, I ushered everyone outside for the confetti shots and some group photos.  However, the weather had a better idea and would not play ball for us, so I found myself having to stop-start the group shots in-between the bursts of rain.

After the meal, I experimented with some sparklers (well it was nearly Bonfire Night) – the result of which you can see below and stayed until the dancing.

A wonderful day and a big congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Wilson-Hall!

I had the great pleasure of shooting the Brackenborough Hotel wedding of Rowena & Anthony.  I used to work with Ant a while ago in my “day” job and of course I was thrilled when he asked me to be their wedding photographer.

The day started with me arriving straight at the lovely little quaint church or St Edith’s in Grimoldby where I was greeted by guests and usher and eagerly awaited the arrival Ant and his best man.   Rowena had decorated the church beautifully which all match a lovely colour scheme.

Finally Rowena arrived and looked radiant.  Once the ceremony had finished it was back into the church for tea and cake – a nice refreshing twist to a wedding ceremony.

From there it was onwards for the Brackenborough Hotel wedding photography which included four speeches!  Father of the bride, the groom, the best man and a cracking little poem from Rowena.

I stayed until the dancing – it was a great day.

I started with a few shots of Sean, his best man and his friend who was very keen to get in on as many photos as possible which was quite amusing.  I initially confused as they had moved the ceremony from the wedding suite to into the grand hall of the building but this is great news for any Louth Town Hall wedding photographer as the room is bigger and brighter and there is more room to move.  Wonderful!  The room had been set up and decorated beautifully with seating laid out either side or a central walkway.

I met Sally and sister and father outside for a few brief shots before they made their way to the ceremony room.  After the brilliant ceremony and a lovely short speech from their eldest son Arthur, it was through into the council chamber for the meets and greet and some informal shots of the drinks reception.  I took the group shots and hung around until they sat down for their meal.

In the evening myself and my wife were invited back as for the reception which was a lovely refreshing change so I happily agreed to take some first dance shots for them whilst I was there – it was great fun.  Congratulations Sally & Sean!

There were no bridal prep photos for me this morning, so it was straight to the church to meet up with Paul the groom (who I must say kept his nerve throughout the whole day), his best man and the ushers.  Isabel arrived and looked absolutely stunning and it was on with the show!  It was a beautiful ceremony, both giving word-perfect recitals of their vows!

After the ceremony it was straight onto the group shots outside the church from where all the guests piled into a bus to take them to the Ashbourne Hotel for the reception.  An unusual surprise was waiting for the guests, a very amusing comedy duo called Ultimate Chaos who posed as security guards and later as (terrible, foul-smelling) waiters, if you are looking for something different on your wedding day they are worth checking out.

I stayed there right through until after the happy couple’s first dance.  I must say it was a very fun day, with impeccable speeches and Isabel and Paul just smiled and laughed throughout.  Well done guys!

The ceremony itself was at Raithby Church and yes there were tears, from the groom!  Once we had got all the serious stuff out of the way, it was back to the farm in Hallington for the reception.

It was a lovely day and I absolutely loved Megan’s dress – it made a nice refreshing change to the more tradition dresses I normally photograph and was designed by Caroline Chamberlain in Lincoln .  An extra special mention must go out to Heather’s Fruit and Veg in Horncastle who provided the fantastic bouquets – they were beautiful and very summery.

I was there to document the very calm bridal preparations at Emmi’s parents house and to my surprise, only one set of tears which were supplied by the mother of the bride!

As a nice twist, the bridal party travelled to the ceremony at South Elkington Church in tractors!  Yes tractors.  These were very kindly provided by Andy’s brother in law and were immaculate.  Once the lovely service had finished, it was on to the reception at The Priory Hotel.  The Hotel is a popular wedding venue in Louth and the chef certainly did not disappoint.  They were served a seven course tasting menu which lasted three hours!  Then, when the dining room was turned over, the other smaller rooms because a cheese room and a pudding room.  Just superb.

Emmi of course looked stunning and Andy looked dapper and of course very proud.  The speeches from all three parties were brilliant, a fantastic day.
