I’ve known Jonny a long time and has been a friend of mine since school days so when he asked me to be his wedding photographer for his wedding at Thoresby Courtyard in Nottinghamshire it was a no-brainer!

Jess and Jonny got married on a lovely spring day at Thoresby Court – which is in a beautiful part of the country near Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest.  I had met up with them a few weeks earlier for their pre-wedding shoot and could see why they had booked the hall and courtyard for their wedding, but it was completely transformed for the day! The room was SO full of colours it was stunning!

I met up with Jess and the bridesmaids getting ready in the morning in a local hotel room accompanied by the lovely Lucy Baker a great makeup artist and another friend from school – who was doing a cracking job.  As always I took the time to capture some detail shots of the flowers and shoes and dress – which was beautiful and all the more so for being hand made by a bridesmaid’s mum!

I then caught up with Jonny and his brother and best man Mikey (one of my best friends at school) for a few shots of them together, before it was time to prepare for Jess’s imminent arrival.

I would like to say at this point that I cannot recall a groom smiling so much as Jonny did!  It was wonderful to watch and capture as a wedding photographer.  From the moment she walked down the aisle to the end of the last tune of the night, he smiled constantly,  brilliant!

Jess looked stunning in her dress and was also full of smiles – as was the whole room.  Jonny’s dad David told a funny and lovely story during the ceremony and made everyone laugh.

Unfortunately the weather didn’t play ball for me and I had to shoot the group shots inside, but luckily it cleared up a bit for the portraits of the happy couple.

The meal was fantastic and I got to sit with some old friends I’ve not seen for years and it was lovely to catch up.  The speeches were wonderful and very funny, and the dancing was EPIC!

All in all a fantastic day and I was very lucky to get to be a part of it and am grateful to Jess and Jonny that they let me stay for the party afterwards.  It was a blast from beginning to end!

Congratulations you guys and all the best for the future!
